Have you ever thought of diving for sunken treasure? Well, we all likely have at one time or another. Here’s an interesting opportunity. For the first time ever, the family of world famous treasure hunter Mel Fisher is offering to the general public, an opportunity to come dive along-side the world’s greatest treasure hunters.
This adventure was previously available only to their investors. It is an opportunity help make history, treasure hunting on the most famous shipwreck expedition of our time. Participants have the chance to find their own piece of history and go home with up to $2,500 in authentic shipwreck treasure.
The trip includes a week stay in luxurious accommodations at the Truman Annex in Old Town, Key West. You will be greeted with a Welcome Barbeque hosted by members of the Fisher family and staff. You will get a behind-the-scenes VIP tour of the Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Society Museum including an exclusive look at the Fisher family’s Conservation Laboratory, which is not open to the public.
You will receive top of the line training in historical shipwreck salvage technique from the professionals and will have the opportunity to dive the most famous shipwreck of our time; the Nuestra Senora de Atocha. You also will have the option to dive the second largest artificial reef in the world, The USS Vandenberg.
While diving along side the professionals on the Atocha site you will be involved in an active and ongoing salvage operation where artifacts, treasure and jewelry are found on a regular basis. The highlight of the trip is that if you find an artifact while diving on the site you will be awarded with a previously conserved Atocha artifact owned by the Fisher family. This artifact can be valued up to $2,500.
The cost of the weeklong Atocha Dive Adventure is $2,500. During the 2009 inaugural season every person who participated found an artifact, including a silver coin valued at $2,400.
